Volosi

Carpathian Neo-Traditional Instrumental, World Music

Poland

Biography

VOŁOSI is a fiery Polish string ensemble that fuses Carpathian traditions, classical virtuosity, and rock energy. Deeply rooted in the musical heritage of the Carpathian villages yet boldly contemporary, their music blends improvisation, rhythmic intensity, and captivating melodies.

On stage, they deliver an almost physical intensity through passionate, precise performances that shift effortlessly between melancholic tenderness and explosive, trance-like climaxes. Their distinctive sound is born from the meeting of musicians steeped in the Carpathian folk tradition and classically trained instrumentalists, creating a unique, vibrant, and instantly recognizable musical language.

VOŁOSI has performed more than 950 concerts around the world. The ensemble moves seamlessly between prestigious classical concert halls and major international festivals dedicated to traditional, world, and contemporary music. They are regularly invited to perform at renowned venues such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Wiener Konzerthaus, Kings Place in London, and the Stadsschouwburg in Bruges, as well as at leading festivals including Sziget Festival, WOMAD, the WOMEX Opening Gala, Colours of Ostrava, TFF Rudolstadt, the Rainforest World Music Festival, and Glatt&Verkehrt.

They will tour France in October 2027 as part of the Polish Cultural Season.
