Biography
Brought up in the northern suburbs of Marseille, Siska planted her roots in La Plaine, where music and social mixing go hand in hand. It was here that she fell in love with Rastafari culture. Soon, in addition to singing in her afro reggae combo, Axxam, she was providing backing vocals for Joby's Zion Train Imperial, one of the region's leading reggae figures. Joby also offered her her first band as lead vocalist, Ka & Co. Sista K was born, and with her group Watcha Clan, she was able to break free from all possible codes, touring France, Europe, North Africa and the USA for over 15 years, during which time the Clan released 5 albums; the 5th (Radio Babel) was released in 2011.
In 2015, still independent, accompanied by Supreme Clem and drummer Jessy Rakotomanga, she took everyone by storm and launched a solo career, producing an arty sound somewhere between trip-hop and future soul. Her video Unconditional Rebel quickly made the rounds, racking up over 3 million views. In 2021, the loss of her big brother Ras Jahby prompted her to reconnect with her reggae roots.
In Marseille, a few brothers get together for mythical nyabinghi sessions to pay tribute to her... In autumn 2021, Siska released her 2nd album “Mauvaise Graine” and the video clip for the single Ta Peau was censored on the networks for nudity and simulation of the sexual act (#WTF?!). To make up for the bitterness, the singer from Marseilles turned the situation around with positive vibes and responded with the very Gainsbourgian “Amours censurées”, a track produced in London by Mr Prince Fatty, Siska's return to reggae is now a fact!
Since then, Siska has been working on the production of an all-reggae album, alongside Prince Fatty but not only. So many great collaborations and surprises to discover soon.
In anticipation of the album in 2025, Siska unveils her new single “Skin to Skin” on November 22, 2024!
