Cacao Mental

Biography

Cacao Mental is a unique musical project within the Italian scene, born from the meeting of ancestral Latin American rhythms and contemporary electronic fascination. Their sound blends cumbia, psychedelia, urban electronics and tribal influences, creating a sonic imagery that constantly oscillates between jungle and metropolis.

The project took shape in 2014 in Milan, when Peruvian singer Kit Ramos and producer and multi-instrumentalist Stefano Iascone began writing cumbias after a long creative night. From that encounter emerged a musical vision that reinterprets South American tradition through modern filters, hypnotic grooves and arrangements with a strong cinematic impact.

Over time, the line-up expanded: Marco Pampaluna joined on guitar, helping define the distinctive style that critics later dubbed “Spaghetti Cumbia.” Cacao Mental established themselves especially as a live act, where each concert becomes a true digital tribal ceremony — intense, physical and deeply immersive.

The band’s discography reflects a path of constant exploration and cross-pollination, with releases such as Para Extrañas Criaturas and Reproducción, in which Amazonian spirit coexists with urban aesthetics and a marked psychedelic tension. This journey has been built alongside La Tempesta Sur, a branch of La Tempesta dedicated to Latin American and hybrid sounds, which has supported and released all of their work, helping shape their identity and vision.

In 2026, new material is set to be released once again via La Tempesta Sur. The next chapter will be preceded by the single Rumi Runa, created in collaboration with Peruvian band Olaya Sound System, confirming an increasingly strong dialogue with the contemporary Latin American scene.
