Biography

Pianist, performer and artistic researcher based in Strasbourg (France), Carolina Santiago is a concert artist specializing in contemporary music, and has worked as a soloist and in chamber groups with an international career.

Carolina Santiago is pianist with Ensemble Linea, Ensemble L'Imaginaire, Barcelona Modern Ensemble and Semblance, and founder of the chamber music projects Syntagma Piano Duo, Regrat Duo and Duo Ekriktiko. She has recorded for IRCAM as a soloist and for Radio France with Ensemble Linea, and has been artist-in-residence at Royaumont, GRAME CNDM, and played with the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra OBC.

Santiago has performed at festivals and venues such as Festival de Royaumont, Nouvelles Aventures (Wiener Konzerthaus), NienteForte Festival (New Orleans, USA), Festival Ruhrtriennale (Germany), Elbphilarmonie Hamburg, L'Auditori de Barcelone, Fundación Juan March de Madrid (Spain), etc. She has worked closely with composers such as Francesco Filidei, Simon Steen-Andersen, Claudia Scroccaro and Alberto Posadas, among others.
 
Carolina Santiago is currently pursuing a PhD in artistic music research at Aveiro University with Luca Chiantore, developing an experimental interpretation of Messiaen's Catalogue d'oiseaux. Previously, she studied the European Master of Contemporary Music CoPeCo (2020-22) at CNSMD Lyon, HfMT Hamburg, KMH Stockholm and EMTA Tallin. Previously, at the Conservatoire del Liceu (Barcelona), she obtained a Master's degree with the Fundació Liceu scholarship for excellence and a Bachelor's degree in classical piano with Albert Attenelle.
 
Carolina Santiago has received numerous awards, including the Prix Piano Córdoba Corhyund, the II Prix of the Festival Piano Meeting Ourense, the Fundació Liceu scholarship, the BPA Yamaha scholarship and three scholarships from the Spanish Performers' Association AIE. Among the pianists who have most influenced her training are Catherine Ordronneau, Josep Colom, Albert Attenelle, Vesko Stambolov and Pilar Valero.
